The
Independence Special Events Committee is holding its regular scheduled
monthly meetings every 2nd Monday, 5:30pm at the Independence Fire Department. For

The
Independence Revitalization Project application was submitted to DHCD
March 26th. To view some of our efforts to date click on Downtown Project
under Town Links to the left. Information is available for economic
restructuring, vision assessment, artisan sketches of farmers market and
street scape.
Public Notice: Water line repair and replacement is underway! Please
be advised that contractors will be installing new main and service water
lines on the following streets; Rainbow Circle, Pinehurst Street, and Meadow Brook Street.
Please be patent and understanding of the difficult job the contractors are
faced with and I apologize for any inconvenience you may experience.

A Public Hearing will be held Tuesday,
May 13th 2008, 6:45pm to take
comments on the Town's 08/09 budget and 911 house designation identification
at the Independence Fire Dept. located at 329 Davis Street. A copy of
the budget is available for review at the Town Office, 136 East Main Street.
The Regular
Scheduled Independence Town Council meeting will be Tuesday, May 13th, 7pm, at the
Independence Vol. Fire Dept. located at 329 Davis St.
The VA/NC
Water Authority will hold their regular scheduled meeting May 8th, 10am
at the Grayson National Bank Conference Center located at the west end
of the Guynn Shopping Center, 558 East Main St., Independence.
Water bills due by 5pm on the 5th of each month.
Water bill past due penalty accessed on the 6th day of each month.
Water bill
delinquent payment due before 5pm on the 14th of each month or a
water cutoff fee will be assessed!
Water cutoffs
on the 15th of the month!
