PARKS & RECREATION

The Grayson County Recreation Park is located on the northeast side of Independence. Turn north off East Main Street onto Nautilus Way and then right on Power House Road. You'll find the park about a mile down on the right.

The park has a nice swimming pool, two baseball diamonds, a paved walking trail, a 1.2-mile nature walking trail, and a picnic area with shelters. The Grayson County Recreation Park regularly holds a variety of events over the summer months.

Individual Season Pass = $50
Family Season Pass = $100

Grayson County Recreation Park bus will stop at various locations in Flatridge, Fairview/Baywood, Troutdale, Elk Creek/Comers Rock, and Whitetop. Contact the Park office for schedule and details.

Swimming Lessons by Red Cross Approved Instructors are offered during the summer months. Registration begins in early June, fee is $15. Day and night classes available.

Pool Rentals are available for special groups and parties.

Special Activities:
Day Camp at Grayson County Recreation Park is in late June.
Camp registration begins in early June.
Ages = 5-12
Fee = $30 p/week
Campers will meet each morning at the Picnic Shelters and be picked up at the pool each afternoon. Fee includes breakfast and lunch.

Sports:
Offering Football, Cheerleading, and Soccer in August.
