The
Special Events Committee is gearing up for the 2011 festivals and again
need your support. Our Attendance and participation in last years
4th of July and Grand Privy Races was phenomenal and would like to
continue the growth in these festivals. As in the past, sponsoring
our events will provide your business with advertising in all our radio,
newspaper ads and flyers. In the spirit of community involvement and
development we are asking you to participate as a sponsor for:
*Farmers Market (starting May 27th and every Friday from 9:00am -12:00pm).
*July 4th Celebration (Monday July 4th with Parade at 10:00am).
*Mountain Foliage and Grand Privy Races (Saturday October 8th).
*Potty Princess Pageant (Friday October 7th). *Safe Halloween
(Monday October 31st 4:00pm to 8:00pm). *Christmas Parade (Saturday
December 3rd at 3:00pm). We appreciate your commitment in community
involvement and support for the Town Of Independence. The
Independence Special Events Committee is holding its regular scheduled

Public Notice:
Pursuant
to the Code of Virginia sections 15.2-107, 1102, 1104, 2503, and 2506 the
Independence Town Council will hold a Public Hearing
June 12th 2012,
7pm, at the
Independence Fire Department located at 329 Davis St., Independence, VA to
take public comment on the 2012-2013 Governmental
budget of $1,381,668 and Utilities budget of
$2,010,266.
There is NO TAX or Water/Sewer INCREASE
proposed in this budget. A copy of the proposed budget is available for
public review at the Town Office Monday thru Friday 9am to 5pm.
The
next regular Town Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12th, 7pm at the Independence Fire Hall located at 329
Davis Street, Independence.
NOTICE:
The Virginia/Carolina Water Authority Board will
meet Thursday, June 14th, 2012 – 10:00 a.m. for its regular scheduled monthly
meeting. Location: Water Treatment Plant,
Moxley Ridge Road, Grayson County, VA. If you have questions or need
additional information, please contact Bryan Edwards, Chairman of the
VA/Carolina Water Authority, at (336) 372-4257.
Water bills due by 5pm on the 5th of each
month.
Water bill past due penalty
assessed on the 6th
day of each month.
Water bill delinquent payment due before 5pm
on the 14th of each month or a water cutoff fee will be assessed
and water cutoff!
Water cutoffs on the 15th of the month or next business day!
PAY EARLY, avoid late penalties.
